Apple and Samsung banned in South Korea
A South Korean court has ruled that Apple and Samsung both infringed each other's patents on their mobile phones.
The court has imposed a limited ban on national sales of the products of both companies that were covered by the ruling.
It stated that US-based Apple had infringed on two patents held by Samsung, while the South Korean firm violated one of its rivals patents.
This major decision comes as a jury in the US deliberates on a major patent trial between the two companies.
The sales ban will apply to Apple's iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad and iPad 2, while Samsung's Galaxy SI, SII, Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Tab 10.1 will also be taken off shelves.
A judge at the Seoul Central District Court was quoted as saying by Reuters: "There are lots of external design similarities between the iPhone and Galaxy S, such as rounded corners and large screens... but these similarities had been documented in previous products."
