App-based payments could persuade people to sell mobile phones
The prospect of paying for goods with an app-based system may appeal so much to consumers that many sell mobile phones in order to switch to devices that support the technology.
PhonepayPlus has revealed that it has published a public consultation paper on the issue, after spending some time following the apps market.
It noted that apps can "enrich" the lives of users and are now a crucial factor in the UK digital economy.
The organisation recently launched a Code of Practice and has now confirmed a guide that will aim to reduce the risks of the system and help both consumers and providers of the service.
Britons might be wise to keep an eye on the subject of app-based payments to ensure they are first in the queue for any new developments.
Howard Wilcox, a senior analyst at Juniper Research, recently said that near field communication is one feature set to grow in popularity.
