Angry Birds App Will Not Be Made Available To Windows Phone

An executive maker of the Angry Birds - the hugely popular mobile phone application - has stated the latest instalment of the game will not be made available to users of Windows Phones.

With the release of the new game Angry Birds Space, the franchise is expected to reach a billion cumulative downloads in the next few months.

This compares to just 50 million in late 2010 after the unveiling of the original application.

It has been claimed that the lack of availability of the application suggests that the makers Rovio Entertainment Oy have little faith in the operating system, despite the original game being the number one download on the platform.

Angry Birds Space was released to users on Apple and Android last week (March 22nd).

In an interview on Bloomberg Television Peter Vesterbacka, chief marketing officer of Rovio, said: "We're the No. 1 app in the Windows Phone app store, but it's a big undertaking to support it, and you have to completely rewrite the application."
