Amazon smartphone could be delayed
The rumoured debut smartphone from online-shopping giant Amazon could be delayed until later this year, according to a report.
Digitimes reported that the company was planning on taking the wraps off its device in the second quarter, however, it appears that this could now be put back.
It is believed that there have been production problems alongside its manufacturing partner Foxconn International Holdings.
"The production of Amazon's much-fanfared smartphone is still under its engineering verification test period due to issues related to its mobile platform," sources told the website.
They added that the development is currently being handed by Foxconn's subsidiary Ensky Tech, which played a role in producing Amazon's e-book readers and tablets.
Amazon's Kindle e-reader and Kindle Fire tablet have proved to be big successes so far.
The Fire entered the marketplace as a low-cost equivalent to products like the iPad, with users able to access movies, books and apps and store data through 8GB of free cloud storage.
