16-megapixel camera rumoured for Samsung Galaxy S5
The highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy S5 could come complete with a 16-megapixel camera, according to some reports.
ETNews revealed that cameras from Sony and Samsung LSI are being considered for the new device.
Samsung has been known in the past to outsource the camera components of its devices, with the Galaxy S4 featuring Sony technology.
The Japanese firm has developed an impressive level of experience in the area, as it also supplies sensors for the Apple iPhone 5 and 5S.
However, the rumour mill suggests that Samsung could look to LSI, a subsidiary of the South Korean company, for the Galaxy S5 camera, as this would lead to greater flexibility and cheaper prices.
Samsung LSI also has the advantage of ISOCELL technology which increases light sensitivity and high colour fidelity even in poor lighting conditions.
This technology, combined with a 16-megapixel camera, could be difficult for Samsung's rivals to compete with if it is included in the S5, which is due to be released later this year.
