Samsung comments on eco-friendly mobile accolade
Earlier this year, the Samsung F268 was named the most environmentally friendly mobile phone by Greenpeace International.
Now Geesung Choi, president of Samsung's telecommunications division, has claimed his company is very happy with the award and suggested it is a reflection of its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint.
"We are delighted to have got this result and aim to build on this success as we strive to make more products as green as possible," he remarked, adding that Samsung is a supporter of mobile phone recycling.
The phones that the Samsung F268 beat to the award were the Sony Ericsson C905, the Nokia 3110 Evolve, the Motorola V9 and the LG KT520.
Samsung boasts that the F268 complies fully with the standards laid out by the US Department of Energy and US Environmental Protection Agency as part of the Energy Star directive and is free from PVC and brominated flame retardant.
The Samsung F268 has a five-star rating on Mobile Toones.
