Nokias Production Of Mobile Phones Scores Highly On Sustainability

Nokia – one of the world's leading producers of mobile phones and other communications equipment – has been recognised for its green credentials.

Ian, writing the latest Nokia Conversations blog, explains the Consumer Electronics Association in the US has recently released a report into the sustainability of the actions of some of the planet's largest firms.

A number of factors are considered in the study, including recycling, ethical methods, reporting standards and the eco-friendliness of manufacturing.

Nokia is picked out in three areas for a particularly strong performance – firstly for its "ambitious" project to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions.

It is also praised for the creation of Ovi Life Tools and for its insistence that suppliers also adhere to green practices, Ian notes.

Users of Nokia smartphones benefit from access to thousands of apps and other tools, with the firm providing mobile content in more than 190 countries across the world and in 30 different languages.
