Nokia asks customers to design eco-friendly app
Nokia customers interested in mobile phone recycling and other green measures could be interested in a new competition launched by the network operator.
On its Nokia Conversations website, it is offering up to $1.5 million (£996,479) for innovators who design the best apps.
The app has to be able to change people's lives for the better. Those inventors who would like to see greener technology, including through mobile phone recycling, may want to develop an app for the Eco/Being Green category.
"Design an app that will take the pain out of preserving the planet: one that helps individuals reduce their personal carbon footprint or make more environmentally sound purchases," Nokia asked its customers.
Other categories that apps can be created for include Life Improvement, Entertainment and Productivity.
Nokia previously asked on its Conversations page how its customers thought it could go greener.
This is despite it already having a rating of 7.3 out of ten in the Greenpeace Guide to Greener Electronics.
