Mobile application usage could encourage people to sell an old mobile

15/03/2010

Mobile applications could increasingly be used by businesses to allow their staff to communicate more freely, if recent suggestions are anything to go by.

Recycling old mobile phones may be an option worth considering for those looking at purchasing new smartphones.

According to consulting and market research firm research2guidance yearly app revenues will rise from $1.94 billion (£1.28 billion) in 2009 to $15.65 billion (£10.32 billion) in only four years.

Nic Newman, head of strategy and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa operations at TigerSpike, speaking at UC Expo, said: "Employees said 'actually, what I really want is, on the way home, in the pub, with my friends who I also work with, the chance to upload a video, maybe SMS in an idea, and see that appear on my company intranet'."

He added that employees have stated they are able to communicate more comfortably about how they feel in a way they are more confident about it being dealt with.
