LG Working On Biggest Smartphone

LG and Intel are working together on what will be the world's biggest smartphone.

Consumers could be tempted to recycle their old mobile phone to get their hands on the slimline handset which boasts a 4.8 inch screen.

The current largest smartphone is Toshiba's 4.1-inch screened TG01 but fellow Korean company LG is set to surpass that with its close-to-tablet-sized handset.

The LG GW990's size is not its only draw - the screen offers a 1024×480-pixel resolution which could prove to be a tempting option for consumers wishing to browse the internet and watch movies while on-the-go.

Users will also be able to make use of a 5MP camera, Wi-Fi, 3G and Flash playback.

It is as yet unknown how much the handset will cost or which network it will be available on but a release is expected in the second half of this year.
