Environment may benefit from improved technology

Technological improvements which could offer people the potential to work from home at any location across the UK may reduce the country's carbon footprint, it has been suggested.

A debate jointly hosted by mobile network Orange and the London Transport Museum will discuss the ways in which improved connectivity in the UK could change the way people live their lives.

Experts including the London mayor's transport advisor Kulveer Ranger and journalist and broadcaster Janet Street Porter will join in the debate, which is set to be hosted by BBC journalist, economist and presenter Evan Davis.

London Transport Museum director Sam Mullins said: "Connectivity is the new big enabler – enabling us to choose whether we travel, reducing congestion and improving our environment."

Orange recently released the Connected Britain report and revealed that UK businesses could save up to £31.7 billion by giving employees the ability to work more flexibly.
