Council offers mobile phone recycling advice
Mobile phone recycling advice has been offered by one council in a bid to encourage residents to reduce waste during Recycle Week.
The event runs until June 27th, with the focus this year on getting homeowners to clear out electrical items - such as old handsets - that are no longer in use.
Wandsworth Council has urged its residents to clear old mobile phones out of their draws and, if they are working, take them to any British Heart Foundation Furniture and Electricals shop.
There is also the option of using a service such as Mazuma, which gives customers cash for their old mobile phones.
If the handsets are not working they should still be taken for recycling, the council stated, as broken items often contain valuable materials that can be reused.
Recycle Now notes there are a number of benefits associated with sending away old electrical goods to be used again, including reducing landfill, protecting the environment and saving energy.
