Avoid Hanging On To A Mobile Phone For Too Long

Trading in a mobile phone and putting the cash towards a new device may be the shrewdest move when a handset comes to the end of its shelf life.

However, research by the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) shows four-in-ten Britons hold on to items they like.

And 41 per cent keep electrical items – such as mobile phones – in the hope they will one day turn out to be useful.

But banking the cash on offer from firms such as Mazuma while a phone still has significant value and is in working order may be the best move.

Defra is currently holding a Recycle Week, designed to illustrate the advantages of disposing of electrical in a green way over holding on to them for too long.

Meanwhile, the Sutton Guardian recently told how people in the London borough are to be offered prizes in exchange for handing over items like mobiles.
