Amazon Ready To Launch 3D Smartphone This Month?

Amazon has made waves in the tech world at a number of different points over the last few years, from its Kindle e-readers to its Kindle Fire tablets, challenging the larger companies and adding a new string to its bow.

This year, rumours have been rife that the company is about to branch out again, this time into the smartphone world, and with a new press event now announced for later this month, it seems that we may be getting introduced to the new Amazon device after all.

On June 18th, it will lift the lid on its new project, with many believing it to be the 3D smartphone that has been predicted for most of the year.

It could see the company trump all of the other large technology companies across the world with one fell swoop. With Samsung and LG both having been competing to be the first to deliver a smartphone with a quad-HD display, Amazon bringing a 3D phone to the party is sure to shake things up.

The announcement of the event in Seattle was accompanied by a video which showed a number of Amazon customers looking at and being amazed by a device in their hands that was unseen by the camera.

Throughout it, the subjects of the video say things like "awesome," "oh whoa," and "I've never seen anything like this", while one woman comments "it moves me," which is a description that has been heard alongside other rumours of this device.

So what are we expecting to see? Release date wise, the phone will more than likely land just days after the original launch, with Amazon, of course, having its own ready-made platform for selling the device.

In terms of price, we should see a phone that comes in at a far lower price point than many other firms' flagships, with the arrival of a 3D screen surprisingly not taking it too high. Expect the phone to cost UK users anywhere between £58 and £118.
