HTC Hero OS Set For Change?

Consumers selling mobiles for one of the latest Google Android smartphones may be interested to hear the possible future for the operating system (OS).

It has been suggested that the search engine company may bring its mobile software together with its new Chrome computing technology to create one single platform.

However, this information did not come from the pages of an unreliable blog or rumour resource - but Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Cnet reports this week.

Speaking to reporters at a recent press event promoting the new PC software solution, the spokesman said: "Android and Chrome will likely converge over time."

This has led some to speculate on what that might mean for future smartphones that run the existing mobile OS - which at the moment include the T-Mobile G1, Motorola DEXT and HTC's Magic, Tattoo and Hero models.

Commenting, Gordon Kelly of Trusted Reviews said: "Mobile phones are increasingly like small computers ... Consequently, the two platforms will inevitably have to merge."
