Mobile banking 'popular with UK consumers'
Mobile banking is proving popular in the UK, with 37 per cent of mobile phone users in the country accessing their accounts via their handset.
A study by mBlox has found that mobile banking is even preferred over accessing accounts and making transactions in a branch.
Three per cent of individuals in the UK said they would choose branch banking over other methods.
When asked about the benefits of banking over a mobile phone, 46 per cent of Britons cited convenience and the ability to access their accounts on the go.
"We are seeing strong interest in the mobile sector from a wide variety of industries including transportation, retail, marketing and entertainment, which shows there is an opportunity for financial services to benefit from this increasingly popular channel," said chief executive officer of mBlox Andrew Dark.
ING Direct recently launched a BlackBerry and iPhone application and claimed it was the first Canadian leading direct bank to do so.
