£5 Tariff Could Be Alternative After Phone Recycling

Those after a cheaper contract could be tempted to recycle their mobile phone and enter into a £5 per month tariff.

Orange announced that its offerings will now extend to what it says is the cheapest deal on the market.

This deal costs £5 per month, lasting for 36 months, with a new handset at the beginning and in the middle.

Neil Macgeorge is Orange UK's director of the Pay Monthly division and said demand for such contracts and price plans have increased "materially".

He added that the cheaper options will be ideal for those who are only light phone users but want more choice.

"They are ideal for people who don't want to go through a top-up process, are happy to commit to a contract, want the security of knowing that they won't run out of credit and who want a phone included in the package," Mr Macgeorge explained.

Customers on the network are currently able to benefit from perks such as Orange Wednesdays, which offer two cinema tickets for the price of one.
