Windows Phone beats iOS and Android in UK
Microsoft is outdoing two of the biggest mobile phone companies when it comes to growth in their smartphone operating systems, according to report published yesterday (November 4th).
Windows Phone mobile operating system was the only one of the 'big three' to increase its market share during the last few months. Apple's iOS hold 27 per cent and Google's Android has 58.4 per cent of the market. Though both giants have experienced a small decline during Q3, they are still able to hold the dominance, according to Kantar.
However, Microsoft increased its share as Windows Phone soared to 11.4 per cent, which is more than twice the 4.2 per cent it earned during the same period in 2012.
The rising success of the Windows Phone operating system can be largely attributed to the popular range of Lumia devices released by Nokia, which Microsoft now owns.
