Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 update may appeal to mobile phone fans
Keen mobile users could be tempted to switch to a Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 after the manufacturer launched a significant update to the model.
The company has decided to move the phone from the Android 1.6 operating system to Android 2.1, despite it being released on the former only in October, writes CNET UK's Asavin Wattanajantra.
It means many of Sony Ericsson's leading mobiles – including the Xperia X10, X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro – are all available on the more recent platform.
"When Android 2.1 does arrive on your X8, you'll receive features such as support for multiple accounts on Google or Exchange email, plus an improved browser, camera app and on-screen keyboard," explains Mr Wattanajantra.
Such a prospect may make it worthwhile for some people to sell a mobile and invest in the newly-updated model.
Flora Graham, writing for the same site, recently praised the Sony
Ericsson Xperia X8 and suggested it is an affordable way to attain an Android-powered device.
