Samsung Galaxy S II owners set to get Ice Cream Sandwich
Samsung has reportedly started upgrading its handsets with its flagship mobile phone the Galaxy S II getting the Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, while the ageing Galaxy S will have Gingerbread made available.
The Gingerbread update will also include items such as face-unlocking and a photo editor, The Register reports.
Users in Poland, Hungary, Sweden and Korea are already starting to see the update being offered, while people in the UK will have to wait just another week or so before the upgrade is available.
As well as the Galaxy S II, Samsung will be updating its tablets - which it stated recently were way behind its competitors in the tablet market - straight to Ice Cream Sandwich - ensuring a snappier interface as well as other key functions.
Ice Cream Sandwich follows on from the tablet-specific Honeycomb Android 3 that was supposed to unify the tablet and phone versions of Android.
