Samsung criticised by judge for press release
The judge involved with the bitter patent dispute between Samsung and Apple has rebuked the Korean firm for a press release it sent at the start of the trial.
Judge Lucy Koh said the company's release had been "a wilful attempt to propagate…evidence they knew had been excluded" from the case.
It contained evidence that Apple had based one of its handset prototypes on what it thought an iPhone made by Sony might look like.
Samsung's PR agency had emailed the nine-page presentation to reporters last week.
It also showed a Samsung handset, which suggested that the company had been working on an iPhone-like design before Apple.
The two companies have been at loggerheads for months, with Judge Koh even granting pre-trial injunctions to ban the sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Galaxy Nexus.
A statement accompanying the press release added: "Fundamental fairness requires that the jury decide the case based on all the evidence."
