Orange prepares to trial mobile phone technology
Mobile phone users with Orange could soon be the beneficiaries of new technology that may change the quality of calls for the better.
The network is trialling its Voice programme in the coming weeks in the south of England, enabling users to make crystal-clear communications with friends and colleagues.
Orange believes it will give the effect of both participants in a call being in the same room and cut out the noises associated with long-distance conversations.
Tom Alexander, chief executive of Everything Everywhere, which runs Orange, says: "The trial of mobile HD Voice is a significant milestone in the new companys goal of delivering the best service in the industry."
If the technology is well received it could be rolled out permanently across the country in the coming months.
But for now, only mobile phone users in the region between Southampton, Reading and Bristol will get a chance to test it out.
In other news, Orange is gearing up for the release of the iPhone 4 this week, which it is due to stock.
