O2 releases 4G on August 29th
O2 has officially announced a date when its 4G network will go live in the UK, but it's not good news for all mobile phone users.
August 29th is D-day for the company and it will be offering SIM-Only tariffs from a competitive price of just £26 a month. The network will activate the next-gen service in London, Leeds and Bradford on the first day, with plans to gradually roll the service out across the country.
Other cities due to be 4G-enabled before the end of the year are; Birmingham, Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry, Sheffield, Manchester and Edinburgh.
However, if you are the proud owner of an iPhone 5, you won't be able to tap into the superfast network, despite the device fully-supporting 4G. It is due to the fact that O2 will only be deploying on the 800MHz band, which Apple's device doesn't support.
