Mozilla announces new Firefox phones
The ZTE Open was the first mobile phone that came running Mozilla's Firefox OS software. Now the company has announced it will be producing at least two more devices this year (2014) to brand out its operating system.
Barcelona's CES 2014 is now in full swing and Mozilla, while revealing it will be teaming up with Panasonic to create a smart TV, announced it had some more smartphones in the works. The devices must be past the first stages as the company expects them to arrive later this year, though a specific release period wasn't given.
It is thought the ZTE will create “a new Firefox OS line”, which will bring high-end and dual-core offerings to the market. This will allow users quite a different view of the company's software as the ZTE Open was a low-end, cheap device.
We know that two of the upcoming smartphones will be called Open C and Open II, though no other details were provided.
