Motorola to release "at least 20" new smartphones this year
Consumers considering mobile recycling as an option could be encouraged by an announcement from manufacturer Motorola that it is to release a minimum of 20 new smartphone handsets this year.
The manufacturer coincided the revelation with its financial results for the past year and promised to continue its progression during 2010.
During the fourth quarter of 2009, Motorola enjoyed sales of $5.7 billion (£3.6 billion), it has announced.
Sanjay Jha, Motorola co-chief executive officer and chief executive officer of Mobile Devices, said: "Our first Android smartphone devices have been very well received. We look forward to broadening our handset portfolio in 2010 with the launch of at least 20 smartphone devices around the world and continued evolution of our MOTOBLUR service."
Mr Jha recently confirmed that the mobile manufacturer is working on a new Google phone, which in a similar style to Google's Nexus One, "will be sold directly to consumers".
