Motorola smartwatch coming 'within months'
A number of mobile phone companies have started to make plans for wearable technology. Now Motorola has joined the pack by revealing its intentions for a smartwatch.
At a press event at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, Rick Osterloh, senior vice president of product management, said: "It's our intention to deliver interesting wearable technology - we are developing a watch which will be coming out in the next year."
He added that one of the company's biggest concerns was to make wearable products that people actually want to wear as many are "extremely ugly".
After making various negative comments about the other smartwatches on the market - mostly the Samsung Galaxy Gear range - Mr Osterloh said: "We'll be announcing [the watch] in a few months so stay tuned, but [wearable] is very interesting to us."
Motorola then went on to mention the idea on its Twitter feed, saying it was concerned with "consumer issues like style and battery life".
