Mobile phone recycling: McAfee launches new version of mobile security syst
McAfee has announced adjustments to its McAfee Mobile Security software, which helps provide Android mobile phone and tablet users with additional privacy options.
This will allow consumers to make sure their apps are not accessing their personal information without their knowledge.
It will give users an offering of access to an added layer of protection to preserve their privacy and protection against financial fraud, identity theft and viruses.
Earlier this year, Google estimated that 20 billion apps had been downloaded on the Android platform, while a recent report from comScore on mobile social media use found 33 per cent of apps ask for more permissions than they need.
Vice president of engineering at McAfee Luis Blando said some Android apps can ask for 124 types of permissions and these can invade your privacy.
"With McAfee Mobile Security, consumers can now filter their App Alert notifications to just those apps that are using permissions of interest or concern to the user," he continued.
