Mobile phone recycling could help 'feed needy children'
The general public is being encouraged to donate old mobile phones in order to help raise money to feed London children.
Parenting website Netmums and charity Kids Company have joined forces to try and get more than £1 million to help hungry and vulnerable children.
The organisations claim that each phone donated will help provide a month's worth of meals for an at-risk child.
In a survey of 1,116 parents, Netmums found that one in four (24 per cent) was aware of a youngster in their area who might be going hungry.
Official figures compiled last month found that the number of children living in poverty in the UK fell by 300,000 last year as household incomes also dropped.
Founder of Kids Company Camila Batmanghelidjh added: "Children don't have a public voice so they can't tell us. We have a collective responsibility to make sure every child has enough to eat."
