Mobile banking users 'to double in 2010'
You could be tempted to trade in your mobile for a new model in 2010, as it is predicted to be the year that mobile banking services really gain ground.
In the past, high-speed internet connections have meant that many people could do all their necessary banking online, according to ABI Research.
Now, a new generation of handsets and the rise of text-message banking are helping to encourage more people to go mobile.
If you trade in your mobile and upgrade to an iPhone, there is also a new app from NatWest that allows accounts with the bank to be accessed via your handset.
And you will not be the only one making the most of banking services while on the move in the coming year, if the trend of recent months continues at the same pace.
"The global number of subscribers more than doubled between 2008 and 2009, and is expected to almost double again in 2010," explains ABI Research senior analyst Mark Beccue.
