Google Voice may be an attractive option for those who trade-in mobiles
People who trade-in their mobile phones and subsequently begin the hunt for a replacement often see keeping their existing number as a priority.
Robert Dong, software engineer and author of the Google Mobile Blog, explains one of the search engine's premier phone products can now also meet this demand.
He says Google Voice can be accessed with the same dialing sequence as a user has always held, for a small charge.
There are also a few simple steps that must be followed in order to integrate the technology with an old number, but this could be well worth it to those who do not want the inconvenience of changing digits.
Mr Dong adds the possibility of keeping hold of a number is "one of the most frequent requests we hear".
Earlier this week, the blog advised readers to use a new weather app launched by Google that offers information and forecasts to those who search for 'weather'.
