Festival fans may choose to sell mobiles
Those heading to UK festivals this summer may increasingly be opting to sell mobiles and switch to smartphones prior to their chosen event.
New data from Orange showed that the use of the Glastonbury 2011 official app at this year's festival, which took place last week, was significantly up on last year
It also found that there was increased consumption of data services linked to the app, which could have included its map, line-up details and event information.
Overall, there was a 377 per cent rise year-on-year in data usage, while 4.9 million text messages and 2.7 million calls were also made from the Somerset venue.
Spencer McHugh, brand director at Orange, said: "As festival goers increasingly rely on staying connected via Smartphones in their everyday lives, they have come to expect the same when they’re at an event like Glastonbury."
This year's Glastonbury was headlined by acts such as Coldplay, U2 and Beyonce.
