Consumers Could Soon Sell Mobiles And Switch To Devices With Long Life Batt

One of the major irritations for mobile phone users is the inability of their device's battery to remain active for more than a few hours at a time.

However, the option of selling mobiles and switching to a model with a long-life battery could soon be on the cards.

New research by Northwestern University has found that the "dream battery" may well be much closer to reality than many people realise.

A team of experts working at the institution have formed an electrode for lithium-ion batteries, similar to those found in the latest iPhone, HTC or BlackBerry handset.

However, the engineers' product is capable of holding a charge approximately ten times as large as batteries currently found in mobile phones. recently signalled its intention to back the new Apple iPhone 4S as a top-quality device that it recommends to all British consumers, citing its impressive battery life as one of its key advantages.
