Amazon's Kindle Touch to be released in Europe
Amazon is launching a touchscreen version of the hugely popular e-reader Kindle Touch in the UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy.
The device will be made available for delivery in the countries from April 27th, which is five months after it initially went on sale in the US.
Unlike in the US, there will be no discounted versions of the handset sold with adverts.
As well as being able to read all their books on the device, consumers will also have the ability to use an "experimental" web browser that works with a Wi-Fi signal present.
It is thought that this is the lead up to the Android-based Kindle Fire tablet that is set to be released in Europe at some point this year to compete with the iPad.
"It is the best-selling e-reader in the world, but the comments that we got back... were 'we wish it had touch', and so we're excited to bring this to the UK market," Amazon's European vice president of Kindle Jorrit Van der Meulen told the BBC.
