Oriental company ZTE first released its Grand X Quad mobile phone in February with the V987 but Friday (March 22nd) was the first time any pictures were seen online.
The device was put on sale in China without the western world knowing anything about it. Engadget’s report revealed that the handset was available in China after finding pictures on @evleaks Twitter account and is the first consumers have seen of the budget mobile phone.
ZTE seemingly released the Grand X Quad in China at the end of February without any sort of press announcement getting to the west.
The handset retails for a modest ¥1,699 (£180) in its home country but stocks are reportedly limited.
The Grand X Quad is complete with 5-inch display, 1.2 GHz quad-core chip, an eight mega-pixel camera and dual sim.
ZTE is yet to confirm the Grand X Quad’s availability or when it may come to the UK or US.
