Wi-Fi mobile phones have experienced "phenomenal growth"
If you have a wireless handset would you never go back to a mobile phone that does not have Wi-Fi?
Individuals who want high-performing mobile phones could realise the benefits of Wi-Fi.
People who do not have a Wi-Fi-enabled mobile phone may decide to trade their old device in for cash in order to experience the benefits that such technology has.
According to the Wi-Fi Alliance, mobile phone manufacturers view the technology as one which can be relied upon for supporting a highly performing handset.
Edgar Figueroa, chief executive officer of the Wi-Fi Alliance, said there had been a "phenomenal growth of handsets offering Wi-Fi", which he described as coming as "no surprise".
His comments came after ABI Research revealed it expected half a billion Wi-Fi mobile phones to be shipped in 2014.
By the same year, 90 per cent of smartphones will have Wi-Fi, the report added.
Smartphones which have Wi-Fi capabilities include the BlackBerry Curve 8900, the HTC Hero, the Nokia E71, the Sony Ericsson Aino and the LG GD900 Crystal.
