Reports indicate that mobile phone carrier Vodafone is planning to release its own 4G-ready handset, which will be supported by its own LTE network when it launches.
A recent filing in the US indicates that the unannounced device will be called Vodafone Smart 4G and has been cleared for use in the States by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Although it looks like the device won’t launch in the US as Vodafone hasn’t hit the American market.
The filing doesn’t give any further information about what other specifications you could expect the Vodafone handset to have, but judging by other own-branded devices from the firm, it will be a simple device offered at a budget price.
Even though the US is all but ruled out for release, it’s still possible that we could see the Vodafone Smart 4G appear in the UK. It could prove popular too as the device could potentially offer 4G connectivity without expensive contracts or smartphones.
