The Viddy mobile phone application is now available through Google Play, benefitting those with Android devices like the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Unofficially dubbed ‘Instagram for videos’, the tool allows users to apply specialised artistic effects onto recorded footage.
Those who download the app can also easily add music to their videos, providing a soundtrack which helps creative handset owners produce movie-like footage.
Social network integration allows Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Tumblr members to easily share what they have made with friends.
Users can even show people the edited videos by sending a link through email or a text message.
Viddy has been available for Apple iPhone gadgets for a while – it was named iTunes App of the Week in May 2011.
The iOS tool, which has been optimised for the latest iPhone 5 handset, has received an average rating of 4.5 stars from almost 14,000 customers on the App Store.
