An image has surfaced online of Ubuntu’s upcoming mobile phone, dubbed the Edge, before the firm’s big release.
The handset is said to sport the company’s own operating system Ubuntu for Smartphones and may be the firm’s attempt to break into the market and become a much more prominent force in the lucrative sector.
It is claimed that the Ubuntu Edge will carry a 4.5-inch 1,280 x 720 HD display which has “pure sapphire crystal” which means it could be left unscratched even by something as strong and sharp as a diamond.
The device will also have an eight-megapixel camera on the rear and a two-megapixel option on the front. It will also pioneer long-life silicon anode battery technology, according to the Telegraph.
However, fans will have to wait for Ubuntu’s big announcement to get any official confirmations of what the Edge will bring to the smartphone market.
