Gamblers who trade in their mobile phone and switch to another device could take advantage of placing bets via their handset.
Joel Keeble, head of special projects at H2 Gambling Capital, explains there are plenty of reasons behind the rise in online betting.
He notes perhaps the most significant is convenience, with gambling from home or while on the move a lot easier than visiting a bookmakers' shop.
And it is not only from a computer this is possible, as the expert identifies mobile phones as a significant contributor to the pursuit.
"Betting via a mobile device whilst attending a sporting event or down the local pub with friend" is another advantage of the technology, Mr Keeble states, adding better odds are often available this way than through retail outlets.
More gamblers could be turning to mobile phones, as Ladbrokes recently announced a 20.1 per cent rise in profit for 2010, despite a 7.3 per cent drop in over-the-counter wagers.
