Trading-in a mobile in order to upgrade to a handset capable of offering the latest news at the touch of a button may be a tempting prospect for those who like to keep their finger on the pulse.
And now it seems such a tactic could be even more effective, after Google launched updates to its Google News service.
Arun Prasath, author of the Google Mobile Blog, says the search engine has unveiled several improvements to the feature that should enhance usability and visual satisfaction.
He added the global firm hopes the developments will make “browsing news on your mobile easier”.
Among the updates is an expansion of the story space, making tapping on articles more accurate than previously, as well as collapsing the viewing window in order to reduce scrolling time.
Another option for news readers is an Apple iPhone, with BBC News recently joining Sky News in providing an app for users.
