Fans of Double Dragon will need to trade in their used phones and switch to an Apple model – such as an iPhone or iPad – if they are to enjoy the first mobile version of the game.

As well as all the favourite features of the title, the handset adaptation even includes some new aspects.

For example, extra moves can be made by players while new characters – such as bosses and enemies – are introduced.

Some of these can be accessed by users if they perform well enough, while those with a second Apple device can challenge their friends and family to a game.

Although the graphics have been significantly upgraded for the iPhone screen, consumers may be relieved to learn all the action will still be played out on the same background.

People who would like to enjoy the app on a tablet could do so on the iPad 2, which was launched by Apple in the US last week.
