In less than a year, Three’s four million contract mobile phone customers have more than doubled their data usage as more people look to use their devices for a plethora of things.
This dramatic shift has seen the average amount of data used by contract customers every month increase to 1.1 gigabytes, which is up from 450 megabytes last summer.
Some of this may be down to the fact that data usage rates within the EU have now been reduced in a bid to prevent so-called bill shock.
Chief executive officer of Three Dave Dyson said with 95 per cent of the company’s smartphone customers using data each day, everyone is relying more on their handsets.
“Even I don’t understand how much data I use on a daily basis so it’s no surprise that having an all you can eat worry-free data package is proving to be so popular,” he continued.
