Over a third of people in the UK spy on their partner’s mobile phone, new research has found.
According to a study by GoodMobilePhones.co.uk, 34 per cent of Brits check if their other half is misbehaving by going through their mobile, with just under one-quarter perusing their email account.
When questioned as to why they spy on their partner’s mobile phone, 38 per cent stated that they did not trust them, with 28 per cent claiming jealousy is the driving force behind their behaviour.
Just under one-fifth said it is down to curiosity, with a further 15 per cent saying that their other half does it to them so it is only fair.
Mark Owen, managing director of GoodMobilePhones.co.uk, commented: “It can be tempting to give in to curiosity by having a sneaky look at your partner’s mobile phone or emails, even more when your partner’s mobile doesn’t have a password or pin protection.”
Those looking to trade in mobile phones and purchase something that offers better security settings may wish to invest in a smartphone.
According to Juniper Research, global shipments of the devices are set to rocket to one billion by 2016.
