It's all been coming out for Sony this week – barely 48 hours have passed since the alleged photos of the Sony Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact were all over Twitter, and now we have already had a list of specs posted online for the smaller of the two as-of-yet-unannounced handsets.
This latest leak comes courtesy of Twitter user DooMLoRD, who posted the details alongside an image of the about screen on the phone itself.
It seems that the Z3 Compact might not be as compact as its name suggests, with the first spec that has been released stating that the device will be packing a screen of 4.5 inches. This puts it right up there with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S5 and its own big brother, the Xperia Z2 (and Z3 when it's released).
As well as this, the device will be packing a 720 x 1280 display, a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 GPU. The camera will apparently be 20.7 megapixels while there will also be a lens on the front of the phone which will take photos at 2.1 megapixels.
These details, if true, will mark a significant step up from the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact – leaked images earlier this week seem to suggest that the company is bypassing the Sony Xperia Z2 Compact – which had a smaller screen and was much lower in specs than the company's flagship models.
So when should we expect to see this latest offering from Sony? If trends are to be followed, it should be on shelves at some point before the end of August. After all, Sony will want it out to users before the iPhone 6 goes on sale.
The latest Xperia range comes just a few months after the release of the Z2 though, and less than a year since the Z1 was released in October. Are Sony moving too fast? Only time will tell.
