Consumers searching for the most sustainable mobile phone on the market should note it has been named as the Sony Ericsson Elm.
O2 has unveiled a new eco-rating system that offers people access to information regarding the environmental impact of a range of devices.
With 65 models on the list, it could be used by green-thinking people hoping to minimise the size of their carbon footprint when buying a new handset.
And some may find following the system's results after recycling their old mobile phone is the ultimate green method of trading technology.
Ronan Dunne, chief executive at O2 UK, says: "We know that sustainability is important for many of our customers and for the first time they will have the whole picture from which to make a full and balanced purchasing decision."
O2 recently posted strong results for the second quarter of the year, particularly in areas such as connections and market share.
