Mobile recycling could be driven by users wanting on the go access to Facebook – the best known social networking website in this country, if recent findings are anything to go by.

Recent research from InSites Consulting found that 98 per cent of people asked knew the website by name.

An increasing number of mobile phones are using the internet capabilities of their device as a way to attract consumers.

Daniel Chubb, chief executive officer at Dansway Communications and Online Social Media, suggested that Facebook and Twitter have overtaken traditional telephone usage in the popularity stakes.

"It is not like this for everyone, but the younger generation certainly cannot live without social media and using Facebook to chat to friends and game together," he said.

According to the recent research from InSites Consulting, 72 per cent of those who use the internet are a member of at least one social networking site.
