Research has shown that an increasing number of people are going to be looking to recycle their mobile phones in order to get their hands on one of the many smartphones on offer in the market.
Recent research conducted by In-Stat concluded that the number of people owning a smartphone will increase from just under 20 per cent in 2010 to a total of 43 per cent of all handsets in 2015.
Chief technology strategist at the firm Jim McGregor said the richer content and wider selection in smartphones is helping to ensure an increasing number of people are looking to buy a device.
“The technology driver of all these smart devices is the mobile technology, because it represents the largest and fastest growing segment of the entire electronics market,” Mr McGregor continued.
Recent figures suggested that BlackBerry is the most popular smartphone choice in the UK with 27.7 per cent of the market share, which equates to 8.5 million UK subscribers.
