There has been an influx of leaks and rumours regarding the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime since rumblings about its existence began last year. Sources claim the firm’s flagship would be available in multiple sizes and prices. But could this heavily debated device be hitting shelves as early as this month?
According to Tech-Radar, the smartphone will be available in Korea around mid-June and will come in a variety of colours, including pink, gold and blue. This news may not be welcomed by those who purchased or upgraded to the Samsung S5 when it was released earlier this year.
Over the weekend, several pictures of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime began to float around the internet. Phonearena received several leaked images from an anonymous source, showing a device with brushed metal bodywork. According to the website, the model in the photographs has a Snapdragon 801, but when it is officially released, the new phone will use Snapdragon 805.
The unknown tipster also claims the Samsung Galaxy Prime will be smaller compared to the recently released S5 and that the screen surround is thinner. The source added that the design has an asymmetrical style, as the top part of the handset is more curved than the lower half.
This leak isn’t the first, and will not be the last, with others suggesting the new device could be launched this month. However, conflicting rumours claim the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime could be released as late as September, allowing the firm to directly compete with Apple as it releases the iPhone 6.
There have even been clashing reports over the name of the device, with some sources claiming it won’t be called the Galaxy Prime S5. According to @evleaks, the phone will be given the moniker Samsung Galaxy F, but the editor of SamMobile Faryaab Sheikh believes it could be called the Galaxy Alpha.
Whatever Samsung decides to call its latest addition to the Galaxy family, the device is appearing at several certification bodies, including in the US and Korea, which does suggest the official launch could soon be on us.
