The Samsung Galaxy S3 will be the first Android-powered mobile phone to be equipped with Quick Tap contactless mobile payment technology, thanks to Orange and Barclaycard.
Quick Tap allows compatible mobile phones to be 'tapped' onto payment terminals in certain stores across the nation to pay for transactions up to £20.
In order to utilise the technology, users must own a UK MasterCard or Visa card and download a secure app to their handset.
The network announced that new or upgrading customers will be able to take out the Samsung Galaxy S3 featuring the Quick Tap service from September 5th.
Barclaycard is offering customers who activate the service between September 5th and October 5th 2012 free credit of £50.
The director of propositions at Orange, Simeon Bird, said that "contactless mobile payments are a secure and convenient alternative to cash and cards". Barclaycard head of digital payments, Tom Gregory, also assured customers that the technology offers "a full fraud guarantee".
