Samsung is expecting its latest flagship mobile phone – the Galaxy S3 – to ship over ten million worldwide by the end of July.
It was originally launched at the end of May to rival Apple’s iPhone and officials at the Korean group believe this will be its fastest-selling smartphone.
Samsung’s mobile business president Shin Jong-kyun said the device would reach the ten million milestone just two months after its launch and will be boosted by being carried by nearly 300 mobile carriers worldwide.
Shares in the firm dropped more than four per cent on Monday (June 25th) to a four-and-a-half-month low after brokers cut quarterly profit outlook.
Profit for the mobile division of the company nearly trebled January through March to $3.6 billion (£2.3 billion).
“The overall market condition was challenging due to eurozone issues and tight supply of components … but [our] second-quarter results will be better than the first quarter,” Mr Jong-kyun said.
